Iftar Series - Day 25: Beef Feuilletes are my Thing Now!

Hey there Masset Chefs!

We're on the homestretch and have officially entered the last 5 days of Ramadan! Is it just me or it went by way too fast this year!?

Entering the last 5 days also means we can tend to get lazier and lazier when it comes to making the Iftar! Therefore, I think there is nothing better than another 30 minutes recipe that can still make you feel like a chef!

For this recipe, I remembered that I had some ground beef left from my Kibbeh recipe and some puff pastry that I bought at the store about 2 weeks ago... bam we making feuilletes!! Beef feuilletes are small pastries that can be eaten both as a main dish and as appetizer bites. They can be made with cheese or bacon to start a meal; or even with mushrooms or salmon accompanied by a salad as a main dish; you get it, they allow you to bring your imagination to life in a small amount of time!

INGREDIENTS

  1. Puff pastry by Pepperidge Farm

  2. 1 egg

  3. 1/4 cup of Carnation milk

  4. 1 teaspoon 7-Herbs and Garlic

  5. Ground beef leftovers

  6. Butter or Oil Spray

  7. 1 block of Swiss cheese

PREPARATION

  1. Thaw your puff pastry at least 30 minutes to an hour

  2. Heat the oven to 375°F and lightly grease your baking sheet with butter or oil spray

  3. Beat 1 egg in a small bowl with a fork. Stir the beaten egg with 7-Herbs and Garlic, milk and salt

  4. Unfold the pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface

  5. In the center of each rectangle, place some of the ground beef, topped with a cube of cheese, then brush the edges with some of the beaten egg mixture

  6. Cover the stuffing with a second rectangle of dough. Press the contours of the rectangle with your thumb.

  7. Repeat until all the ingredients are used up. Place the puffs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper

  8. Brush the feuilletes with the egg mixture

  9. Bake them for 25 minutes or until they're golden brown. Let them stand for 10 minutes and serve warm with marinara sauce!

As usual, make sure to let us know how it went.

Bon Appetit,

Aby
