The pulp of the baobab fruit, called "monkey bread" in French or "bouye" in Wolof, a tree with multiple virtues, from the leaves to the seeds. The baobab powder is super rich in vitamin C, it contains 6 times more than oranges. It also contains 3 times more calcium than a glass of milk, 6 times more potassium than bananas and 6 times more antioxidants than some red fruits such as black currants. Finally, this fruit contains a lot of iron, fiber, magnesium and manganese.
It is usually consumed in juice, since considered as an excellent rehydrating agent, but also in the form of syrup, ice cream, jam, cakes, candies and food supplements. Boy! we were so addicted to the bouye when we were younger. I recall there were always ladies, right outside of high school, who were selling it in the form of ice cream in small sachets. Now, that was a real treat! It's so verstaile that it is even made in the form of Juice during special occasions.
This mix was specially made to follow Masset's way of making Bouye Juice. It includes baobab powder, nutmeg, sugar and pure vanilla extract for Madagascar. If you are not following a vegan diet, you also have the option to get the mix containing the popular milk powder, Nido. Just make sure to communicate with us on the mix you would like to get.
